A small pool deep enough to swim in, and is used only for swimming. The swim pool is close to the training hollow, and this is where apprentice learn to swim. There isn't really any life in it, for it is used often, except in cold weather.

Raintail skidded into the small clearing where the swim pool was. "Are you okay?" he asked Amberpaw.

Raintail shook his head. "I thought I heard Thistleclan cats. The bushes rustled and everything, and we were right on the border." He turned to his apprentice. "Do you know how to swim?" he asked.

"No, I've never had the chance to try. This is my first time really seeing the territory, remeber?" Amberpaw replied.

"Oh yeah," said Raintail. He slid into the water and swam in a circle. "All you have to do is paddle your feet like your walking, but you're floating. Swimming feels a lot like flying. You try now. I'll be right there."

Amberpaw stared at the water then looked at Raintail. She carefully slipped into the water and started pattling her feet. Before she knew it, she was swimming around Raintail. "This is fun!" she meowed happily.

Raintail purred. "Told you so!" he said. He dove underneath the water and opened his eyes. The landscape was beautiful. He swam up to the surface. "Amberpaw," he said. "Open your eyes under the water. It's beautiful."

"Okay," she meowed, poking her head underwater. She opened her eyes and gasped at how beautiful it was. But suddenly, she had no air left and started choking. Breathless, she starking sinking to the botton of the small pool. The last bit of air she had raised to the surface in bubbles.

Raintail saw Amberpaw sinking down, down, down, unconscious. He took a deep breath and dove down, swimming hard. He grabbed her scruff in his teeth and swam for the surface until he thought his lungs would burst. Suddenly, he felt air on his face and was about to open his jaws, but then remembered Amberpaw. He swam hard for the shore and layed Amberpaw on it, pushing at her chest with his paws. "Please wake up, please, please," Raintail mewed. This was his first apprentice, and she was a happy little soul. She shouldn't go to Starclan yet.

Amberpaw coughed and lifted up her head. "Wha? What happened?" she asked, blinking open her eyes. "You're right, Raintail, it was beautiful down there. But then suddenly I just couldn't breath...and everything went black."

Raintail sighed. "You passed out and almost drowned. It's my fault entirely for doing this. I'm sorry." He looked out over the forest. "At least you're okay. Either we can go back to camp, or we can get some more training done. Your choice," said Raintail. "Oh, are you okay?"

"Yes, I'm fine now. I just didn't know I wouldn't be able tobreath uder there. But, we can keep training!" Amberpaw replied, standing up.

Raintail purred. "You can't ever breath underwater," he said. "Okay, how about battle training?" he asked. "Know any moves?"

Raintail crouched down. "Well, first, I want to see your skills. Attack me with the best you've got."

Amberpaw smiled and crouched. She watched Raintail closely, then prepared herself and pounced. She landed on his face, claws unsheathed.

Raintail snarled instinctively, and threw the apprentice off him. "Don't ever do something like that again," he hissed. "Always train with claws unsheathed." Raintail was stern, making sure Amberpaw got the point.

Raintail gently cuffed his apprentice on the ear. "I'm sorry I wasn't more specific," he mewed. "What I should have said was "Attack me with claws sheathed, like playing, but with the best you've got." Raintail gently dabbed at the shallow wounds on his face that Amberpaw made with a paw. "Why don't we try hunting now instead?" he said wryly.
